Mayor Lester Miller and the Commission spread cheer throughout every County department this holiday season by approving a one-time bonus for every full-time and part-time employee.

Last week, employees received the extra boost in their paychecks. Full-time employees received an additional $2,500 and part-time received $1,000.

On Tuesday, December 5, Mayor Miller presented to the Commission a plan to give each employee that started with us July 1, 2023, or before a one-time retention pay adjustment. It was approved that up to $4.1 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) be spent on this pay adjustment.

“We have the best employees, and we wanted to make sure they knew how much their work is appreciated,” said Mayor Lester Miller. “We’re hoping this bonus allows everyone to be a little more comfortable during the holiday season and focus on spending time with their loved ones.”

Employees did not waste any time thanking Mayor Miller and his administration.

“What a Blessing!!! Thank you to the Budget, Finance, and Human Resource Departments for making this Christmas a Merry Christmas,” said Jalanda Patterson with the Corrections Division.

“I want to thank all the people who made it possible and worked hard to bring all the employees of Macon-Bibb County this unexpected blessing at Christmas. A heart felt thank you! Happy Holidays to all,” said Rhonda Taylor, Bibb County Superior Court Receiver.
