Earth Day Festival postponed again due to COVID-19

The Macon-Bibb County Green Team is postponing the 2021 Earth Day Macon-Bibb Festival due to concerns related to COVID-19. It was originally slated for April of this year, then moved to fall, as they’d hoped the cases of COVID-19 in our community would decrease. With the resurgence of the Delta Variant, the board wanted to keep everyone as safe as possible. The team hopes to return in 2022, and in the meantime, encourages everyone to get their vaccine and wear face masks.

“We are so disappointed we’ve had to move the festival yet again, but ultimately, taking care of our Earth starts with taking care of ourselves,” says Lacey Resch, Co-Chair of the Green Team and Community Health Works’ Market Manager & Community Liaison. “This festival is a big event for children and families, and we know how tactile children are when they’re learning and having fun! So we knew we needed to wait until we can ensure a safe festival before moving forward.”

The Macon-Bibb Earth Day Festival takes place at Tattnall Square Park the Wednesday before Earth Day each April. You can watch videos on previous festivals here, and follow the page on Facebook for more updates and ways to stay green.
