Changes coming: daylight saving, park hours, smoke alarms

October 28, 2022

Clocks fall back one hour next weekend as Daylight Saving Time ends at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2022. Aside from that extra hour of sleep we’re all looking forward to, there are a few reminders we want to share.

The Fire Department reminds everyone that changing your clocks back is the perfect opportunity to check your smoke detectors. They want you to make sure they’re working, and go ahead and switch to fresh batteries so your family can stay safe. The Fire Department will also help you install and check your smoke detector; all you have to do is call them at (478) 751-9180.”

“A working smoke alarm can save lives,” says Fire Educator Sergeant Jeremy Webb. “Everyone should have a working smoke alarm and be sure to change the batteries in the spring when we go forward an hour, and in the fall when we fall back an hour.”

Our park hours will shift with the time change as well. Beginning November 6, 2022, Amerson River Park, public playgrounds, and our public cemeteries will be open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. That includes Historic Rose Hill, Evergreen, and Fort Hill Cemeteries, as well as any of our Recreation Centers which have public playgrounds and green spaces. Visit www.MaconBibb.us for additional information on our parks and hours of operation.
