Beginning Monday, January 10, Macon-Bibb County and Heritage Pharma Group will offer free COVID-19 testing at two drive-through sites. Tests include both the PCR (nasal swab) and rapid (mouth swab) tests. Mayor Lester Miller made the announcement on Friday along with Dr. Corey Alston with Heritage Pharma Group, who will lead the testing sites.

People can get tested Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. or Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the old Macon-Bibb Health Department at 171 Emery Hwy and Macon Mall at 3661 Eisenhower Pkwy.

“No one will be turned away. It is important for you to get tested,” said Mayor Lester Miller. “We want to make this resource available for everyone in order to be safe and slow the spread of COVID-19.”

The tests are free for people, and everyone is welcome. It is recommended you make an appointment online, but staff will be available to help you register on-site.

Heritage Pharma Group will be working closely with Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) nursing students who will be on-site providers.

“This as an opportunity where students can go to school, work with a flexible schedule, and most importantly, continue their commitment and trajectory as they seek to serve the community,” said CGTC Dean of Health Sciences Dr. Alvin Harmon.

“We are excited to offer these tests to everyone,” said Dr. Alston. “Nearly 100% of the labor force at the testing site are all greater Macon residents. We think that we have built a wonderful Macon-Bibb workforce.”
