On Tuesday, November 19, the Commission unanimously approved a one-time retention pay adjustment for all part-time and full-time County employees.

Mayor Lester Miller brought this recommendation forward with the intention that up to $3 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) would be spent on this pay adjustment, with $1,500 going to full-time employees and $500 going to permanent part-time employees.  This only pertains to employees who have been with the County on July 1, 2024 or before.

“This is a small way of showing our appreciation for the hard work and dedication our employees show each and every day,” said Mayor Lester Miller. “I am so proud of these great people who make up Team Macon-Bibb!”

The bonus will appear on paychecks on December 13, 2024.

This pay adjustment will be treated as normal wages for all purposes, including for the purpose of calculating salaries where relevant with respect to employee retirement benefits.  This pay adjustment shall be subject to normal tax withholding for every employee in accordance with state and federal laws. Any changes to tax withholdings will take 30 days to process.
