On Thursday, October 10, the Mayor’s Council of Clergy held its regular luncheon at Middle Georgia State University.

This month’s guests included Rabbi Elizabeth Bahar, Dr. Patrice Walker with Atrium Health Navicent, Sister Theresa Sullivan from the Daybreak Day Resource Center, and Sabrina Friday with Mother’s Nest.

“Our luncheons give us a chance to let religious leaders know of our projects, opportunities, and other work, as well as to hear directly from them on issues they see impacting our community,” said Dr. Henry Ficklin, Executive Director of Community Affairs.

“Middle Georgia State University was honored to host the Mayor’s Council of Clergy and to welcome such distinguished community leaders to our campus. This gathering provides a vital opportunity for dialogue about the ways faith can positively impact our region, fostering connections that promote unity, understanding, and shared progress,” said Christopher Blake, Ph.D., MGA’s president.

The Council typically meets every other month to give local faith leaders an opportunity to discuss issues facing their congregants and the community at large. They also have the chance to talk with other ministers and organizations aimed at promoting peace and justice in our community.
