It’s been more than two weeks since our first Convenience Center (1010 11th Street) opened. Since then, our community has taken full advantage of the opportunity to dispose of their trash, yard debris, recycling, and other material properly and at their convenience.
Since the official opening of the Center on March 10, the Solid Waste Department has collected 51.6 tons of material at the facility.
“We are seeing a steady flow of people coming to the Convenience Center, and a lot of them have been grateful for it,” said Solid Waste Management Maurice Jackson. “We are looking forward to opening up more of them throughout our community.”
The Center is open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You must bring an I.D. or Driver’s License to verify that you are a Macon-Bibb County resident. After showing a team member your I.D., you will be directed to the appropriate container for disposal on your debris. You may be directed to multiple containers depending on what you bring.
Any loose debris (leaves, straw, pinecones, sheet rock, etc.) MUST be in bags.
If you are towing a trailer and you have to unhook to leave the facility and return, you must place trailer on the outside of the fence in a safe location. This is for the safety of other residents and team members.
The facility WILL NOT accept materials from contractors or commercial businesses. If you are, you will be provided with alternative facilities to properly dispose your debris. If you have any questions or concerns, contact the Solid Waste Manager at (478) 803-0523. For more information about Solid Waste services in Macon-Bibb, visit https://sw.maconbibb.us.
