On Tuesday, August 6, the Commission unanimously approved hiring a contractor to handle the Rosa Parks Square. Macon-Bibb County is entering into a construction agreement with Stafford Builders & Consultants, Inc.

Our Procurement Department posted a Request for Proposal (RFP), where 92 vendors applied. After review, Stafford Builders & Consultants, Inc., a local African American owned business, whose proposal was the lowest responsive and responsive submission was recommended for award.

“We’re excited to get one step closer to completing this project,” says Friends of Rosa Parks Square Board Chair Andrea Cooke. “This has been a long time coming, but we’ve really been intentional with this project and want to get every detail right to honor Rosa Parks and our community. We can’t wait to see these ideas come to life with the work of Stafford Builders & Consultants, Inc.”

The renovations will include a memorial wall, more trees, a stage, picnic tables, and benches.
