May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Macon Mental Health Matters (MMHM) is holding a variety of events to help you take care of your mental wellness. On Sunday, May 21, the organization is holding a Community-Wide Mindfulness Day in Rosa Parks Square (701 Poplar Street) from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
“Communities all over the world are highlighting the benefits of being mindful on World mindfulness day! We will have three yogis at Rosa Parks Square teaching three very different styles of yoga,” says MMHM Coordinator Andrea Cooke. We will also have an urban hike at 11 a.m. and of course we will have a drum circle. There are so many benefits to being mindful and we hope you will join us for this no cost event.”
The event will begin with an invigorating hike around Downtown followed by a soothing sound bath designed to relax and rejuvenate both body and mind. There will also be variety of activities designed to help people connect with their inner selves and with others in our community, such as guided meditations.
This opportunity is free and open to everyone. Click here to learn more about MMHM and upcoming events.
