At the Macon-Bibb Commission meeting on April 18, Mayor Robert Reichert presented a proclamation declaring April 17-22 “National Community Development Week.” People who work with our Economic & Community Development Department stood around the mayor as he read the proclamation praising the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and all its benefits.

In 2016, more than 1,000 Macon-Bibb residents benefited from the CDBG program through youth mentoring programs, home-repair programs, family and individual counseling, crisis intervention, homeless services, and more. The CDBG programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Development. You can read more about these programs in the proclamation here.
