On Thursday, June 9, Mayor Lester Miller and Executive Director of Community Affairs Dr. Henry Ficklin hosted a luncheon for the Council of Clergy at the Edgar H. Wilson Convention Center. More than 80 members of the clergy and their guests broke bread together and talked about moving the community forward together.

“What we’re trying to do for our community is going to take every single person, every organization, and every group working together and moving toward the same goals,” says Mayor Miller. “That especially includes our faith-based organizations because they are in all our neighborhoods, reach so many people, and are at the center of keeping us focused on a higher purpose.”

During the luncheon, the Mayor reviewed with them what the government had done in the first 18 months of his administration, talked about the importance of forgiveness in the interest of the greater good, and charged them with crossing barriers, combining resources, and supporting people and our neighborhoods.
