In the fifth week, departments surpassed 1,000,000 pounds of illegal dump debris and 500,000 pounds of yard waste collected from neighborhoods as part of the Clean Streets Matter initiative. To get to those milestones, crews cleaned up 262,070 pounds from 16 illegal dumps and 170,180 pounds of yard waste from 1,820 stops along the normal collection routes in the past week.
“This shows our community what can be done by our dedicated crews when we use data to identify the issue and work together on the solution,” says Mayor Lester Miller. “We will continue to focus on cleaning our streets because Macon-Bibb matters, and we need your help to keep it clean. Sign up with Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful to hold your own neighborhood cleanup, and use SeeClickFix to let us know of illegal dumps.”
