Mayor Lester M. Miller – along with Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful and Macon-Bibb departments and agencies – will hold a press conference on Friday, January 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the Historic Pleasant Hill Neighborhood. The group will announce a new partnership for a data-driven and focused neighborhood clean-up initiative, one that will include all partners and seek to engage residents.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions and to help keep people safe and healthy, the press conference will be limited to invited guests, the media, and support staff. It will be broadcast live on Macon-Bibb County’s Facebook page.

“The cleanliness of our gateways, arterial roads, and neighborhoods are of such importance to our community they became action items in two of the Goals – Economic Development and Recreation & Tourism – in our Mayoral Transition Team Report,” says Mayor Miller. “We have to take care of and strengthen our neighborhoods, but we can’t expect that to happen if we have trash littering the streets and illegal dumps on abandoned lots.”

“I want to thank the Mayor and his team for coordinating this much-needed effort and for inviting us to be a part of it,” says Caroline Childs, Executive Director. “My Board and I are very excited to strengthen the partnership with Macon-Bibb County and its dedicated departments, as well as to expand our support to every neighborhood in the community.”

“Fighting crime and improving public safety is more than locking people up,” says Bibb County Sheriff Davis. “It’s improving people’s quality of life and opportunities, and I’m grateful to the Mayor & Macon-Bibb County for immediately finding a way they can help.”
