A portion of the intersections at Third and Poplar, and Second and Poplar Streets will be closed through January 5 for the Downtown Macon Christmas Light Extravaganza. This will allow people to cross Second and Third Street safely when enjoying the light show.

If you’re driving down Poplar Street, you will not be able to turn left onto Second Street or Third Street –it is right turn only. If you are driving down Third and Second Street, you cannot cross Poplar to continue. The Second Street and Poplar Street intersection will be closed from 4:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. each day until January 5. The Third Street and Poplar Street intersection will be closed 24/7 until January 5.

The Macon Christmas Light Extravaganza kicks off on Friday, November 28, at 6:00 p.m. with a performance by the Macon Pops. The Extravaganza features more than 1,00,000 lights moving in time to music arranged and performed by Macon Pops in historic downtown Macon.

Each show lasts about 45 minutes. Shows begin at the top of the hour at 6:00pm, 7:00pm, 8:00pm, & 9:00pm. This event is FREE & open to the public!

The Christmas Lights will be located along Poplar Street between First Street & MLK Jr. Boulevard and Third Street between Plum Street & Cherry Street, and Rosa Parks Square.
