On April 27, Mayor Lester Miller proclaimed the day as Jim Barfield Day, to celebrate the legacy and work Barfield has done in our community. He dedicated his life to education and the preservation of his hometown’s rich history and architectural legacy.
Over the last three decades, Barfield has become a prominent figure in Macon’s historical community, advocating tirelessly for the protection and appreciation of the city’s unique heritage.
Since 1990, Jim has led a Rose Hill Ramble tour on the Sunday after Easter and this annual event is a beloved tradition for many Maconites, who are given a unique opportunity to learn more about Macon’s history under his expert guidance.
