The Economic and Community Development Department (ECDD) just wrapped up its celebration of National Community Development Week from April 11 to April 15. The Department oversees Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds which support and stimulate our community through various organizations, programs, and initiatives.

At the Commission Meeting on Tuesday, April 12, Mayor Lester Miller presented a proclamation recognizing the ECDD for their work and celebrating National Community Development Week in Macon-Bibb. You can read that proclamation here. During that same meeting, Director Wanzina Jackson and Assistant Director Charlotte Woody gave a presentation on all the ways these funds are working to help those who have low to moderate income in our community.

“We are proud to work with so many community organizations aimed at improving the quality of life for our citizens,” says Economic and Community Development Director Wanzina Jackson. “Community Development Block Grants provide funding for public services, housing, educational initiatives, programs for families, and so much more.”

You can view that presentation here. Visit the Economic and Community Development Department page on our website for continued updates on local initiatives helping people right here in Macon-Bibb.
