Mayor Miller and several Commissioners – Mayor Pro Tem Seth Clark, District 2 Commissioner Paul Bronson, District 6 Commissioner Raymond Wilder, and District 7 Commissioner Bill Howell – helped host a Super Bowl Party for residents of the Brookdale Warming Center on Sunday, February 7, 2021. Local audiovisual technician Buddy Lovell donated the television and sound system and food was donated by Ingleside Village Pizza, JAG’s Pizzeria, and The Rookery.

“Watching the Super Bowl is an annual tradition, and just because they are staying with us doesn’t mean they shouldn’t join with the rest of the country in this celebration,” says Mayor Miller. “Thanks to the generosity of people who contributed financially or with services, the restaurants that helped provide food, and some of my fellow Commissioners, we made it happen for the Brookdale residents.”

“If you want to see the intentional kindness and fraternity Macon-Bibb County is capable of, volunteer at the Brookdale Warming Center,” says Mr. Clark. “The Golden Rule is on full display there and lives are being changed daily.”

“Anyone going through a hardship in their life shouldn’t be pushed to the side and not helped. The residents deserve to feel like they are part of a family, and our community came together to make sure they had that chance,” says Mr. Bronson. “We have to get to know the people we are helping, and this was a great opportunity to talk with them, enjoy the game with them, and let them know our community is here to support them.”

“It is so important to help people in our community, no matter their circumstances, and the Warming Center is an example of how loving and giving people can be toward others,” says Mr. Wilder. “I want to encourage people to join us in volunteering and making sure the residents know we care for them and are finding ways to meet their needs.”

“The Warming Center is a prime example of our Mayor and Commission taking action to support our community, and I’m proud to see positive results from and honored to be a part of this initiative,” says Mr. Howell.  “It was great to help out for Super Bowl Sunday and know that we were able to provide the residents with a sense of community and family around this American tradition.”
