Bogus raffle tickets being sold

It has been reported to the Macon-Bibb County Recreation Department that one or more people are selling raffle tickets to raise money to send children to a water park, and that the drawing for gift card prizes will be held at the Frank Johnson Recreation Center.

There will be no raffle held at the Frank Johnson Recreation Center, and the Recreation Department is in no way associated with these flyers (shown below).

“It’s concerning to us because this is not the first time we’ve heard about this scam, and it leads to parents and families showing up at our Center looking for prizes,” says Center Director Clarence Thomas. “We’re working very hard here to provide great opportunities for youth, and it’s disheartening to have someone using our name and people’s love of children to profit from.”

If you are approached by someone asking for money for these tickets, do not buy them. You are asked to then call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 and report where you were offered the tickets.
