Celebrating National Black Business Month

August 6, 2021

The month of August is nationally celebrated as Black Business Month, to recognize and celebrate black-owned businesses, and our Office of Small Business Affairs (OSBA) is taking part. On Tuesday, during a Commission meeting, Mayor Miller proclaimed August as Black Business Month in Macon-Bibb County.

“We know diversity and inclusion has been an overall problem so how can we address it where everyone feels included? This month is the way to go,” said OSBA Director Charise Stephens. “We have everything from free Zoom to our cash mob. If we all work collectively as a community, no matter the race, we can make a big difference.”

Throughout the month, the OSBA will host several events aimed to highlight, celebrate, and assist local black businesses.
