Gary Bechtel has resigned his post as the District 1 Commissioner to enter the race for the Georgia House of Representatives District 141 seat. When Bechtel filed and qualified for that race, he had to vacate his position as Commissioner. There will now be a special election held in Macon-Bibb to fill the District 1 County Commission seat.
