Barton Malow + Sheridan will host an information session for subcontractors and suppliers to introduce the New Macon Arena project, including the project scope, schedule, and trade bid category opportunities. They are encouraging all firms and companies interested in being involved in this historic project to attend, including SLBE, MBE, WBE, and DBE.

The session will be held Tuesday, March 24 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Macon Centreplex (200 Coliseum Drive). There will be a short presentation followed by a Q&A session and then networking with team leads. Firms and companies will have the opportunity throughout the event to register with Barton Malow + Sheridan and Macon-Bibb County as vendors.

Registration is not required for attendance, but it is encouraged. That can be done here: https://www.bartonmalow.com/event/new-macon-arena-subcontractor-outreach-event/.

“This arena won’t be just a venue, it will be a destination and major economic engine that creates opportunities, attracts visitors, and keeps our city competitive for years to come,” said Macon-Bibb Mayor Lester Miller. “Along with the Atrium Health Amphitheater and recently renovated Macon City Auditorium, we are changing the entire entertainment, event, and sports landscape for the region and state.”

Macon-Bibb County’s Office of Small Business Affairs (OSBA) is supporting the program by reaching out to all current Macon-Bibb vendors to make them aware of the event and the upcoming opportunity to be part of the project. It will also provide opportunities at the information session to learn about becoming a vendor with Macon-Bibb County.

“The size of a project does not come along very often, and we want to make sure our local, small, and minority businesses have a chance to make a competitive bid and be involved from the very beginning,” says OSBA Director Charise Stephens-Merriweather.

About the new Macon Arena

The new arena will be located on the current Macon Coliseum site. Construction will occur on the existing surface parking areas, and the project will be phased to maintain ongoing operations of the existing facility throughout the duration of construction. The project is anticipated to exceed 230,000 square feet and will include a seating bowl capacity of approximately 8,500 in an end-stage, 180-degree concert configuration, with flexibility to reconfigure for sports and other entertainment events. Premium seating—comprised of luxury suites, club suites, and loge boxes—will be provided in addition to the bowl capacity.

The facility will incorporate modern fan amenities, including clubs, concessions, restrooms, and integrated technologies, along with back-of-house and support spaces consistent with a state-of-the-art civic arena. An approximately 35,000-square-foot flex hall will be attached to provide ancillary program space, including capacity for an additional ice sheet, tradeshows, conferences, and various high school sporting events.

A 300-space structured VIP parking garage will be attached to the arena, with a separate standalone structured parking facility of approximately 500 spaces also under consideration. The project will also include site improvements such as parking lot and drive lane reconfiguration, paving, and hardscape enhancements designed to complement and support the arena development
