Mayor Lester Miller has proclaimed October as Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month in Macon-Bibb County. You can read the full proclamation here.

Deaths related to heart disease are particularly high in central Georgia, with an annual average heart disease mortality rate of 235.9 deaths per 100,000 people between 2016 and 2018.

The goal of Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month is to inform Americans about sudden cardiac arrest and what to do in the event of a cardiac emergency.
