Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful (KMBB) and Macon-Bibb’s Parks & Beautification Department celebrated Georgia’s Arbor Day early this year with a tree dedication in Carolyn Crayton Park. You can watch the ceremony here.
Those in attendance were KMBB board members, Mayor Lester Miller, Parks & Beautification staff, Recreation staff, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Epsilon Omega Omega members.
“This event is Alpha Kappa Alpha Epsilon Omega Omega Chapter’s first step to measure the collective environmental impact of our most extraordinary tree planting efforts to date,” said Alpha Kappa Alpha Epsilon Omega Omega Chapter President Tanya Allen.
The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Epsilon Omega Omega Chapter dedicated three Helen Taft Cherry Trees. The Helen Tafts will be the fourth Cherry Blossom tree variety at Carolyn Crayton Park. Currently there are Yoshino, Okame, and Higan Cherry Trees in the park.
“Trees are of tremendous value to living a high-quality life, and we should, at all times, find more places to plant them,” said KMBB Executive Director Asha Ellen. “I want to thank our partners for working together and celebrating Arbor Day with us each year.”
