First Presbyterian Church Assistant Pastor Andy Wyatt, delivered the Invocation at our Commission Meeting.

The Pledge of Allegiance at the April 3, 2018 Commission Meeting was led by one of our inspiring Youth Commissioners: Olivia Placzek from the Academy for Classical Education.

The Mercer Women’s Basketball Team was recognized with a proclamation for their 30-3 season, and first-ever appearance in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.

The Commissioners, alongside our ECD Department proclaimed it CDBG Week in our community, recognizing all the good that has been one by local organizations with this federal funding.

Commissioners proclaimed it to be National Service Recognition Day and thanked the many people that volunteer on a daily basis in our community to make it a better place.

Commissioners approved almost $20k for the Board of Elections to hold a special election on May 22 to fill the vacant District 1 Commission Seat. 

Gwenette Westbrooks was approved to serve on our Health Care and Retirement Benefits Committee. 

Commissioners accepted a Hazard Mitigation Grant Program Award to update the Multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. 

The commission accepted a $7,500 State of Georgia Accountability Courts Supplementary Grant from the Georgia Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for the Macon Judicial Circuit Veterans Court.

Commissioners accepted a $12,176 State of Georgia Accountability Courts Supplementary Grant from the Georgia Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for the Macon Judicial Circuit Veterans Court.

Commissioners approved applying for & accepting an Airport Engineering Design or Planning Assistance Grant from @GaDeptofTrans fir $149,679 to update the Downtown Airport Mayor Plan.

Professional Services Agreement with RumCreek Enterprises approved for SPLOST Management Oversight Services.

Construction contract with Ogles Construction approved for $140,900 from SPLOST for upgrades at The Douglass Theatre. Commissioners also approved a contract with BTBB, Inc for $15,640 for Professional Architecture Services related to upgrades at The Douglass Theatre.

Commission appointed Commissioners Elaine Lucas & Virgil Watkins to Health Care and Retirement Benefits Committee.

Commission appropriated $350,000 from Blight Remediation Program bond funds (Districts, 3, 6, & 7) for improvements at West Macon Baseball Field. 

Commissioner Scotty Shepherd appointed to Macon Fire and Police Retirement System Board of Trustees. 

Commissioner Larry Schlesinger appointed to the Macon Water Authority.
