Macon-Bibb County voters approved the 2018 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) during elections in November, and at the May 2 Commission meeting, the board voted to approve the timeline and spending for that SPLOST. The $280 million penny tax plan will raise money over ten years, and fund dozens of county projects aimed at improving our quality of life, and safety.

Planned projects include the federally-mandated closure of the Walker Road Landfill, courthouse renovations, fighting blight, Parks and Recreation projects, and Public Safety upgrades. You can read the entire breakdown of projects and cost here.
