Animal Welfare

The Macon-Bibb County Animal Welfare Center partially reopened Monday, January 5 after a meeting with the Department of Agriculture. The Center will again be taking in and adopting out animals, except for those that have been housed in the adoption room. This was the room where the dog that died was located, and two more dogs in that room tested positive for parvo on January 4. Due to those deaths and the potential for exposure in the room, the Department of Agriculture recommended the seven dogs still in that room remain under observation until January 19.
