Recognizing Alzheimer’s in Macon-Bibb

More than 150,000 people in Georgia are living with Alzheimer’s disease, and in Macon-Bibb County, 14% of the population over 65 is living with Alzheimer’s. To bring awareness to the disease, Mayor Lester Miller proclaimed October 21, 2023 as The Walk to End Alzheimer’s Day. You can read the proclamation here.

The walk happened on October 21, at Middle Georgia State University with hundreds of people taking part to raise money. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s raises funds for advancing research and supporting programs that benefit Georgia’s families. According to its website, more than $100,000 were raised this year.
