On Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 18, 2021, members of the Epsilon Beta Lambda Chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpa Fraternity, Inc. will volunteer at the Brookdale Warming Center from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

“Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha, and we view his holiday as a day of service,” says Juawn Jackson, President of the Epsilon Beta Lamba Chapter. “Each year, we pause to reflect on his life by being servants of all and helping our community, and the past few weeks, we have focused a great deal on helping people through the Brookdale Warming Center.”

In its first days open, Alpha Phi Alpha donated dozens of new pillows and pillowcases, and they are expecting more to be delivered in the next few days. As volunteers in the Center, they will help check in residents, sort through donations, and help hand out lunch to people.

Anyone interested in helping people through the Brookdale Warming Center can take new pillows and pillowcases to the Bert Bivins Fire Station and Sheriff’s Precinct (4036 Napier Avenue) or sign up to volunteer by clicking here.
