It’s that time of year again where we get to celebrate being the first community in the nation to be designated by AARP and the World Health Organization as an Age-Friendly City. The celebration will take place on Wednesday, May 7, at the Macon Mall (3661 Eisenhower Pkwy) on the lower level from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

“This event will be an opportunity to inform, highlight, and entertain the Macon Bibb community of all ages,” said Myrtle Habersham with AARP. “People will also get to learn about the work being done by our current leadership to improve the quality of life for all residents.”

The celebration is free and open to everyone. Refreshments will be provided and there will be a variety of vendors offering information and helpful tools. Mayor Lester Miller is set to speak about the work being done in Macon-Bibb County, along with AARP representatives.
