The Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission (MBPZ) has announced additional dates for community workshops focusing on land use as part of the comprehensive plan, “Macon It Happen.” The first workshop was held on Wednesday, August 6 at the Elaine H. Lucas Senior Center and the next workshop is Monday, August 31, at the Macon Milledgeville Regional Habitat for Humanity (690 Holt Ave) from 6:00pm-8:00pm. These next five workshops will be held throughout September and October.

All land use community meetings will include a brief presentation of the comprehensive plan, the planning process, results from engagements so far, and potential land use policy approaches. The meeting will also have interactive, hands-on activities designed to gather high-level input on how each area of the county should grow and develop in the future. MBPZ staff and the consultant team will be available throughout the evening to answer questions, discuss ideas, and collect feedback.
“We’re interested in hearing what each community in the County envisions for their future,” said Gregory Brown, Planning Director for MBPZ. “This will help inform where we prioritize new development and redevelopment, and how we’ll do it.” “Macon It Happen” is Macon-Bibb County’s comprehensive plan that lays out how the community will grow, connect, and invest through the year 2055, with a special focus on the next five years. In addition to land use and zoning, it also looks at transportation, economic development, housing, and quality of life. MBPZ is committed to capturing the feedback of all communities in Macon-Bibb County and setting a shared vision for the future.
