The sights, sounds, flavors, and traditions of Latin America are returning to Downtown Macon for the 5th Annual Macon-Bibb Hispanic Festival on Saturday, October 24, from 1:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Cherry Street Plaza (310 Cherry Street).

As organizers prepare for the fifth year of the growing celebration, they are looking for retail and artisan vendors, nonprofit organizations, and community groups to help make this year’s festival bigger and better than ever.

“This festival has become such a special celebration for our community, bringing people together to experience the music, food, traditions, and cultures that make our Hispanic community so vibrant,” says Mayor Lester Miller. “We’re excited to see it continue to grow and welcome families from across Macon-Bibb and beyond to celebrate with us.”

The free, family-friendly festival will feature live music and performances, dancing, authentic food from local food trucks, vendors, activities, and opportunities to learn more about the many cultures represented throughout Latin America.

This year, organizers are especially encouraging nonprofit and community organizations to participate and provide helpful information, services, and resources to families attending the festival. The goal is to connect people with organizations and resources they may not otherwise know are available in the community.

Thanks to the generosity of this year’s sponsors, there is no fee for retail and artisan vendors, nonprofit organizations, or community groups to participate. Organizers want to make the festival as accessible as possible for both those attending and those who want to be part of the celebration.

The Macon-Bibb Hispanic Festival was created to celebrate Hispanic and Latin American cultures while bringing the entire community together. The event also gives Hispanic-owned businesses, organizations, performers, and community members an opportunity to share their culture, traditions, products, and services with Middle Georgia.

Community partners and businesses interested in supporting the festival through sponsorship opportunities can also contact info.maconhispanicfest@gmail.com for more information.

The festival is held in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, which is recognized across the United States from September 15 through October 15. The month honors the histories, cultures, and contributions of Americans with roots in Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America.
