School is back in session, and on the newest episode of Macon It, we’re checking in with Bibb County School District Superintendent Dr. Dan A. Sims.

We sit down with Dr. Sims to recap the start of the 2026-2027 school year and talk about what students, parents, and staff should know as they settle into a new year.

But the conversation goes beyond the classroom.

Listeners get a chance to learn more about the person leading Bibb County’s more than 21,000 students, including Dr. Sims’ journey through education and the experiences that ultimately brought him to Macon-Bibb County. Dr. Sims has spent about 30 years in public education, serving as a teacher, principal, district leader, and educational consultant before becoming Bibb County Superintendent in 2022.
