Macon-Bibb County continues making progress on its countywide sidewalk assessment, with Citylogix now approximately 54% complete with its sidewalk analysis and 100% complete with its ramp analysis.

The assessment is part of the County’s Paving the Way program, an ongoing effort to improve transportation infrastructure and make it easier and safer for people to move throughout our community.

In April, Macon-Bibb County contracted with Citylogix to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of 351 miles of sidewalks and more than 9,263 ADA accessibility ramps across the county.

Using an innovative e-scooter-based system equipped with high-resolution cameras, GPS technology, and mobile data collection tools, Citylogix is capturing detailed imagery of sidewalks and identifying issues such as cracks, uneven surfaces, tree root damage, and other hazards.

Once collected, the data is analyzed to assign each sidewalk an overall condition score on a scale from 0 to 100, with 100 representing the best possible condition. The completed inventory will provide County leaders with a comprehensive understanding of sidewalk conditions and help prioritize future repairs, maintenance, and investments.

The sidewalk assessment builds on the success of the County’s roadway evaluation, which also was completed by Citylogix. That analysis examined approximately 1,100 miles of County-owned paved roads, helping identify streets most in need of resurfacing based on pavement condition, traffic volume, and connectivity.

The sidewalk analysis is expected to provide the same data-driven approach for future pedestrian infrastructure improvements, helping ensure investments are directed where they are needed most.
