On Friday, June 26, the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department turned calendar sales into a meaningful donation, presenting a $20,000 check to Atrium Health Levine Children’s Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital.

“This is one of the most creative philanthropic opportunities we’ve seen yet for the children’s hospital,” said Macey Terrell, President and CEO of the Navicent Health Foundation.

The funds were raised through sales of the Department’s 2026 Middle Georgia Firefighter Calendar, supporting children and families receiving care at the hospital.

“This entire building was built with nearly $15 million in philanthropic support. The programs and service lines require philanthropic support for us to continue providing state-of-the-art care to this community and to go above and beyond,” said Terrell.

“Every calendar purchased represents someone choosing to support a great cause,” said Fire Chief Shane Edwards. “Thanks to our community’s generosity, we’re able to make a meaningful contribution to Atrium Health Levine Children’s Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital and help make a difference in the lives of local children and their families.”

Thirty-six firefighters were chosen after “competing” to be featured in the calendar. They prepared by working out more than usual and eating healthier before being judged by trainers from Legends Fitness.

“It took a whole lot of work, and they have worked so hard to make this happen,” said Beverly Knight Olson. “It takes a lot of time, and these firefighters have given their time. Please thank a firefighter.”

Photo shoots for each month were held at a variety of locations around the community and region, including Lake Tobesofkee, Guardian Centers of Georgia, and Downtown Macon. The calendars completely sold out and were shipped to people across the country and as far away as the United Kingdom.
