In January of 2021, the Brookdale Resource Center opened its doors with a simple but urgent goal: to make sure no one in our community had to face the cold without a safe place to stay. What began as an emergency warming center quickly grew into something much more thanks to the dedication of local leaders, nonprofit partners,  community members, and, most importantly, staff and volunteers who believed Macon could do better for its neighbors in need.

Today, Brookdale is a collaborative effort powered by people who care deeply about this community. Macon-Bibb County, the United Way of Central Georgia, service providers, and volunteers work together to connect individuals experiencing homelessness with resources like housing assistance, job opportunities, identification services, education support, and other tools that help people rebuild their lives and regain stability.

The story of Brookdale is one of compassion, collaboration, and community. It highlights the people and partnerships that helped bring the center to life and continue working every day to help neighbors find stability, support, and a path forward.
