Our Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is officially looking for students who want to participate in this year’s Children’s Art Contest for the 2026 Emergency Preparedness Calendar. All Macon-Bibb County students in grade K-12, regardless of school, are allowed to participate in the contest. Winners of the contest will be selected to be featured in the 2026 calendar.

“Emergency preparedness calendars are a daily reminder to stay ready, and when students create the art, it becomes a community effort — empowering the next generation to lead, educate, and inspire safety in every household,” says EMA Special Projects Officer Sophie Rosen.

Students can draw or paint anything regarding preparedness actions, natural disasters, or man-made disasters. Artwork must consist of paint, pen/pencil, pastel, crayons, or any combination of listed materials. Artwork should be created and submitted on drawing or construction paper that is 8.5″ x 11 and must be horizontal.

The deadline to apply is Friday, October 17, 2025. Click here to see the application.
