On Tuesday, May 20, Mayor Lester Miller recognized with a proclamation Senator David Lucas for 30 years of Soul Jam, a music festival he created in 1995, then known as the Flashback Festival.

The Soul Jam Festival brings people together creating a space where they can enjoy live soul performances featuring renowned artists from the soul and R&B genres, bringing in thousands of attendees who come to enjoy music, food, and the vibrant atmosphere of Macon’s music scene.

It’s celebrated annually at Henderson Stadium and some of its proceeds going to the Al Lucas Memorial Scholarship Fund honoring his memory by providing college scholarships to scholar athletes. The next Soul Jam Festival is Sunday, May 25. You can learn more here.
