On Thursday, January 30, the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department celebrated the promotions of a new Captain and four new Lieutenants. The Department held a pinning ceremony where friends and family of the firefighters could witness the start of their new journey.

“I challenge each and every one of you to keep your intelligence,” Fire Chief Shane Edwards told the newly ranked firefighters. “When you wear that uniform today, you are the light of this department. You are what is making a difference in this organization.”

Captain Willie Jarrell and Lieutenants Matthew T. Clance, Bernard G. Freeman, Jr., Keary B. Jones, Sr., and Daniel A. Williams were each pinned individually. They were sworn in together as a group. Lieutenant Christopher W. Hall was also promoted but was unable to attend the ceremony.

“These firefighters have poured in years of hard work and dedication to get to where they are today,” said Fire Chief Shane Edwards. “I am so proud of them as they take this next journey in their career. I know they will make our community proud.”
