On Friday, January 17, the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department celebrated the graduation of 14 new firefighters. The ceremony was held inside of the auditorium of Central Georgia Technical College.

“These recruits have proven they have what it takes to protect and serve our community,” said Fire Chief Shane Edwards. “I am proud to welcome them to our team and look forward to watching them grow professionally and personally.”

The graduation ceremony featured a presentation of colors, National Anthem by Princess Eleanor Rogers, and invocation by Rev. Levornia Franklin. Each Firefighter took the oath of office and was sworn in by Fire Chief Edwards.

“You’re a team. It’s not you and your best friends, it’s you and your families,” said Chief Edwards. “You’re part of the family now. There is a brotherhood and sisterhood in this organization like no other.”
