On Monday, December 5, Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful (KMBB), Mayor Lester Miller, and the Parks & Beautification and Recreation Departments celebrated the planting of six trees in Carolyn Crayton Park with a ceremony. You can watch it here. 

The Parks & Beautification Department planted three Okame Cherry Trees and three Higan Cherry Trees near the entrance of the park. The new trees join the Yoshino Cherry Trees already there. The Facilities Management Department also created signs  so people will be able to identify all three species. 

“Trees contribute to our environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, conserving water, preserving soil, and supporting wildlife,” said KMBB Executive Director Asha Ellen. “They also beautify our community, creating more scenic views, shade for our children, and more. We’re proud to help beautify the entrance to Carolyn Crayton Park and be part of the overall improvements happening here.” 

“Beautifying our community is a team effort, and I want to thank our crews for working on that every single day,” said Parks & Beautification Director Michael Glisson. “KMBB is a great partner to work with to help beautify our community, from helping increase our tree canopy to working with people on their own neighborhood cleanups.”
