Macon Mental Health Matters (MMHM) is returning this weekend with help from some community partners to help people and their pets. MMHM is holding a pop-up gym, rain or shine, on Saturday, November 12 at Theron Ussery Park (815 N Park Drive) from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
The gym will feature its usual free services such as yoga, a drum circle, meditation, and other services.
MMHM is partnering with the Melanated Community Stimulation Project (MCPS) and the People and Pets Project once again. MCSP will provide free healthy food options for families to take home, and the People and Pets Project will offer care for you and your pets by providing wellness exams and vaccines. BeU=P.I.E. – a non-profit organization that caters to young girls/young adults between the ages of 10-21 – is also joining the gym to promote uniqueness, purpose, passion, and creativity.
“With Veterans Day this weekend, we are excited to potentially help veterans and anyone else in our city who may need access to mental health services,” says MMHM Coordinator Andrea Cooke. “We had a great turn out last month with the People and Pets Project, where we were able to take care of people and their pets. We are excited to continue to partner with MCSP to provide no cost groceries, and to also add a partnership with Be You = Pie, a mentoring program for girls.”
