Brookdale Resource Center one year later

The Brookdale Resource Center opened in January 2021 to provide people experiencing homelessness or who did not have adequate heat, a safe and warm place to stay during the colder winter months. More than 30 departments, agencies, and organizations came together to open the facility to people in fewer than 12 days.

Since then, it has helped more than 1,000 people with a wide array of needed services, find homes, earn jobs, get documentation, find a way home, and more. The need for this type of facility and the success the staff has had in helping people led to it changing from a temporary effort to a permanent facility managed by the United Way of Central Georgia and expanded services.

If you’d like to help people in our community through the Center, you can call (478) 342-8367 or email brookdalewc@gmail.com to donate money, services, supplies, or volunteer time.

In January, the Georgia Municipal Association and Georgia Trend Magazine recognized Macon-Bibb County for its ability to help so many people in our community. Click here to read more.
