Early reading literacy is vital in the ongoing success of students in their educational careers and into adulthood. That is why it is celebrated and promoted with Read for the Record.

The Bibb County School District and United Way of Central Georgia partnered to celebrate Read for the Record, an event to raise awareness of the importance of early learning and help break the record for the most people reading the same book on the same day. This year’s event was held virtually on Thursday, October 28, and the book read was Amy Wu and the Patchwork Dragon by Kat Khang. You can read the book here.

Mayor Lester Miller presented the School District and United Way with a proclamation to name October 28 Read for the Record Day in Macon-Bibb County. You can read the full proclamation here.
