October is National Pedestrian Safety Month sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and Macon-Bibb’s Pedestrian Safety Review Board is holding a month of events, activities, and information to remind drivers and walkers that staying safe is a shared responsibility.
“In the past almost two years, people have headed outdoors more and more as an easy and healthy way to get out of the house, which means there are more pedestrians and cyclists along our roads,” says Charise Stephens, Director of the Office of Small Business Affairs. “Whether it’s walking in their neighborhood, going to the store, enjoying our many trails and paths…everyone at some point is a pedestrian!”
As part of National Pedestrian Safety Month, several Public Service Announcements by local leaders have been produced to encourage people to drive, walk, and cycle safer.
