To many, cleaning is considered to be more of a chore, but to Myra Omofoma, it’s a hobby that turned into a successful career. Omofoma is the founder and owner of Mo’s Cleaning Services, Inc. 

Omofoma started her cleaning company by herself about 10 years ago. Since then, she has expanded throughout Middle Georgia and now has a team behind her. Mo’s Cleaning offers both commercial and residential cleaning services. Those services include COVID-19 cleaning, bereavement cleaning, moving in or out, event cleanup, organizing, construction cleaning, one-day cleanup, and sanitizing.  

“Being in the janitorial industry, it can be very competitive compared to big names,” said Omofoma. “It’s hard for a small black business to compete with bigger, well-known companies. So we need to support each other and help get our names out.” 

She became part of the Macon-Bibb County Office of Small Business Affairs (OSBA) a couple of years ago and says the networking has helped her and wants to help others,. Especially black-owned businesses. That’s why National Black Business month is important to her. She hopes more people will support small black-owned businesses, as it can be a challenge for many to keep their businesses going.
