On Monday, March 29, Senator Jon Ossoff joined Mayor Lester Miller for a tour of the COVID-19 mass vaccination sites at the Macon Farmers’ Market on Eisenhower Parkway run by GEMA and at the Health Department on Emery Highway. They were joined by staff from the Macon-Bibb Emergency Management, Macon-Bibb Health Department, and North Central Health District.

Following the tours, the group spoke with the media, strongly encouraging people to sign up for their vaccine as soon as they were eligible and to continue with prevention practices like mask wearing, social distancing, washing hands, avoiding large crowds, and more. They also thanked all of the people who are working to vaccinate thousands of people almost every day to help slow the spread of the potentially deadly virus. This included doctors, nurses, public health officials, GEMA, Sheriff’s Office, and Georgia National Guard.

“Only by doing all we can, together, will we make it through this pandemic as quickly as we can and return to normal,” says Mayor Miller. “This is about helping each other by doing what’s right because we’ve all been impacted in some way.”
