At the Commission Meeting on Tuesday, December 15, the Mayor and four Commissioners were recognized and thanked for their service as their terms end.
Mayor Reichert’s family surprised him by entering Chambers shortly before he was recognized with a feature video of local and state leaders thanking him for his service, talking about his legacy, and showcasing the way Macon-Bibb has changed during his administration. He was then presented an e-bike by staff in recognition of his years-long effort to make the community safer for cyclists and pedestrians. Click here to watch the video.
Commissioner Larry Schlesinger, Commissioner Bert Bivins, Commissioner Joe Allen, and Commissioner Scotty Shepherd each had a proclamation read for them by County Manager Dr. Keith Moffett, outlining their many years of public service, accomplishments, community outreach, and more. Since the meeting was held virtually, the Clerk of Commission’s Office had the proclamations and a bag of gifts delivered to them about the time they were being read as a way to surprise them. Click here for the video of the proclamations being read.
“It has indeed been a pleasure serving with these Commissioners that we will be honoring tonight,” said Dr. Keith Moffett.
