Economic & Community Development Department holding annual CDBG funding workshops

Macon-Bibb County’s Economic & Community Development Department (ECDD) will hold its annual Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funding Workshops on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Both workshops will be held in Commission Chambers in Government Center (700 Poplar Street).

 

Attendance is mandatory for any non-profit organizations interested in applying for CDBG funding. All applicants must have representation present at one of the two workshops in order to be eligible for consideration. Limited seating is available, and no entry will be allowed after 10:15 a.m. and 6:15 p.m., respectively.

 

In the 2019 Program Year, the Department awarded $429,852 in CDBG funding to non-profit agencies serving Macon-Bibb County. Macon-Bibb County is responsible for awarding CDBG funds to carry out activities related to the following National Objectives: benefiting low-moderate income (LMI) persons, aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight, addressing an urgent need or problem within the community.

 

The Economic and Community Development Department’s CDBG priorities are as follows:

  • Community Building/Neighborhood Revitalization
  •             Crime Prevention/Youth Services
  •             Neighborhood Organizing
  •             Neighborhood Clean-ups

 

  • Homeless Services

 

  • Economic Development/Job Creation

 

  • Rehabilitation and Development
  •       Minor Home Repair
  •       Emergency Home Repair
  •       Homeowner Façade Improvements
  •       Development
