On November 1, the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department graduated its Recruit Class 1801, welcoming and celebrating them as our community’s 19 newest firefighters.

These firefighters have completed six months of training to be ready to protect our lives, homes, and property, and nine of them have also been certified as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT). Their training included not only firefighter training, but vehicle extrication/rescue, hazardous material training, CPR/first aid, and basic high angle rope training.

“I am very, very proud of these recruits; they have accomplished much over the last 6 months,” says Fire Chief Marvin Riggins. “They join the ranks of a very professional and highly skilled fire department and will help us continue to deliver the absolute best in fire and emergency services to the people of Macon-Bibb County.”
