With the holidays upon us and the spirit of giving thanks, PARK Macon-Bibb and the MBCUDA want to help support the community and those in need.  PARK Macon-Bibb announced today that it will host two unique programs during the months of November and December to benefit the local community.  The Food for Fines program will run from November 1st through November 30th, 2018.  The Toys for Tickets program will run from December 1st to December 21st, 2018.  These programs (details below) offer a great way for citizens to pay their citations by helping to provide a hand to those in need.  We are very excited about this opportunity to give back to our community”, said Benjamin Steffen, Territory Manager for the PARK Macon-Bibb program.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to partner with local agencies this holiday season and to provide this opportunity to citizens.  We’ve always felt that the parking program is working in the public’s interest and this is just furthering that mission to include those in need.” Alex Morrison, Executive Director for the Macon-Bibb Urban Development Authority.

Food for Fines Canned Food Drive

Citizens are invited to bring in 10 canned food items per citation, including any past due citations.  We kindly request 14oz (or similar) canned vegetables.  Please be considerate when selecting items to donate, as we are not able to accept expired or damaged items.  All items will be donated to Daybreak.  Daybreak is a ministry sponsored by the DePaul group.  They specialize in helping people to transition from challenging situations to stability and becoming productive members of the community.  They provide on-site services such as shower and grooming facilities, breakfast, laundry, telephone and internet, a health clinic, tutoring and assistance with résumés.

Toys for Tickets Drive

Citizens are invited to bring 2 (or more) new toys still in original packaging with a value of $5.00 or greater for each citation, including any past due citations.  We are not able to accept fast food prizes or toys.  Family Advancement Ministries will be our partner for toys for tickets.  The ministry specializes in working with families with young children.  They offer case by case assistance including financial planning and management.

On behalf of the MBCUDA, PARK Macon-Bibb’s mission in offering these enhanced holiday parking payment programs is to help balance the parking needs of the community with the dynamic interests of local businesses, restaurants, residents, and visitors seeking convenient access to available parking spaces throughout the Downtown area.  Please note that PARK Macon-Bibb reserves the right to revoke a customer’s participation program at any time.
